WELCOME TO TIVOLI BALLET SCHOOL
Tivoli Ballet School is located in the Concert Hall in the middle of Tivoli Gardens and is easily accessible as the main central train station is just on the other side of Bernstorffgade, right in the heart of Copenhagen. The Ballet School was founded in 2012 with a vision to create a ballet school where pupils would have the chance to participate in the Pantomime Theatre's performances. In addition, training is offered to pupils with no dance/classical background but who may decide eventually to have a career in the dance world. Tivoli Ballet School is open to everyone. There are no requirements to start at the ballet school and previous experience is unnecessary. Our intention is for pupils to learn through the medium of dance whilst having fun.
Our ambition at the Ballet School is to create a framework for a modern education in Carstensen's old garden, that will live up to the high standard that exists in the international ballet world today. One of our long term goals is to train pupils to use the school as a springboard to enable them to go on to other international ballet schools and companies. In other words, we hope to provide a wide range of opportunities for all children who would love to dance ballet.
Before making a commitment to join Tivoli's Ballet School, it is possible to book a trial lesson with us. Please contact the school directly on their email address for this trial session: firstname.lastname@example.org
The focus for Tivoli Ballet School's youngest group is to develop their general motor skills, their agility levels and their basic ballet technique. Pupils will be split into different ability groups. To enable new pupils to have the best start at the school they will be assessed in order to see which areas may need strengthening. Their teachers are updated regularly with the latest information/ ideas on how best to develop such skills. They have completed a special course training them on how to improve children's physical strengths and how to incorporate different activities into lessons for instance; singing games, sensory play, balance exercises and social interaction.
The middle group is for 10 - 12 years olds and we have planned to focus more on the correct positioning and strengthening of the various muscle groups. This will give our students the best start for their ballet training. Tivoli Ballet School follows the syllabus taught at the Royal Danish Ballet School.
The oldest group receives a teaching plan suitable to their individual needs. It is important for us that they are challenged, without compromising their quality of learning. During their course of education the older teenagers will have the opportunity to enrol in ballet seminars with guest teachers from Paris, Hamburg, New York and other renowned ballet schools.
Our students are taught by Anne Holm-Jensen Peyk, who trained at Staatl. Ballettschule des Württembergischen Staatstheaters and at John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart, Tina Højlund former soloist with the Royal Danish Ballet, Tori Cooper who is currently dancing at Tivoli Ballet Theatre and trained at Northern Ballet School and Karin Carrara former director of Ballet Teatrets Elevskole and former teacher at Christianshavns balletskole.
The students at Tivoli Ballet School, will have unlimited access to both Tivoli Gardens and Tivoli's amusements as well as the chance to perform in Tivoli Ballet Theatre's performances.
