Tivoli Ballet School’s Pre-Professional Ballet Programme – 1. September 2018- 30. June 2019
 
Tivoli Ballet School's Pre-Professional Programme in collaboration with Tivoli Ballet Theatre and HF-Center Efterslægten allows the student to study academics while training 25 hrs. a week with Danish and international teachers, being challenged by choreographers, creating your own choreography and gathering stage experience on the many stages of Tivoli Gardens including taking part in Tivoli Ballet Theatre productions. 
 
The programme is centered around classical Ballet with pointe work, partnering and repertoire as key elements. The students will also work on  contemporary, lyrical jazz, choreography composition and Tivoli Ballet Theatre's own Pantomimetradition during the year. Supplementary training includes ballet appropriate strength condition is a key supplement, with the students receiving general as well as personal training protocols, as well as as coaching on mental strategies by sports mental performance coach.

September 2018: Health/Fitness Screening of all 1-year students with Ditte Egholm MS (Trinity/laban College)/ Charlotte Anker-Petersen MsC, PT (Dance Science Denmark):  – part of injury prevention program.

September 2018: Nutrition for dancers – understanding how to use nutrition as means to help the body perform at its best with Inger Bols – Sports Nutritionist (Team Danmark/Royal Danish Ballet):

October 2018: Forsythe Technique with Prof. Andrea Tallis, ZuKT, Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Frankfurt a.M. (Germany): Work on Forsythe improvisation techniques and repertoire.

January 2019: Improvisation Technique with Studio Wayne McGregor: learning and working with improvisation techniques as developed by Studio Wayne McGregor. This workshop will held as a preparation for the choreography/composition segment.

May 2019: Imagery, biomechanics and technique – The Franklin Method with Morten Dithmer. Immersion into how your mind and body works together. Concepts from this method will be introduced in the ballet classes during the year, so students will be familiar with the terms. It will allow them to use this workshop for a deeper understanding of the use of imagery in training/dance.

Productions during the school year:

November/ December 2018: Nutcracker Production – Tivoli Ballet Theatre: Students will understudy corps de ballet parts, and learn about working in a professional ballet company.

From February 2018:  Perform in schools with repertoire and new choreography learned and developed during previous months.

From April 2018: Perform on Tivoli stages with repertoire and new choreography learned and developed during previous months.
 
End June 2018: End of year performance at Pantomimetheater.

Assessments / Professional guidance for the students 

We have half-yearly assessments/guidance talks with each student (fall and spring), as well as in between should this be required. We also assist in preparing audition material and guidance concerning audition to schools/companies.


Typical week schedule for the fall semester 2018:
 
Efterslægten is the HF Center Efterslægten, where our students have their academic classes. They have beautiful facilities (library with WiFi and more) which our international students are welcome to use for their online classes. See more at http://www.hfc.dk/. There will be classes/workshops on certain Sundays during the year in relationship with visiting teachers and performances.

Tuition 2019/20:

38.000 DKK for full year (10 months) payable as follows:
 
Non-refundable deposit of 11.400 DKK (pre-payment for April, May and June 2020 due at enrollment)
 
7 installments of 3.800 DKK due each 1. of the month from 1. September 2019 to 1. March 2020

School trip to European city (planned for spring 2020): 4000 DKK

Students are responsible for own housing, meals, health insurance, dance wear and dance shoes incl. pointe shoes.
